Advanced truck skin mod

Mods Studio 2 version: 2019.05 or newer

Written on: August 18th, 2019

In this tutorial, I'll guide you step-by-step how to create an Advanced truck skin using Mods Studio 2. This is the skin type that you'll use to create skins for the NextGen Scania R, Scania S and the new MAN TGX Euro 6.

As with any skin, first you'll need to get skin template images. I recommend using templates by Mohegan13 that he published on the official SCS Software forum. Here's the forum thread: Example DEFs New Scania 2016 Paint System (updated 1.32)

This tutorial will cover how to make a skin for 2016 Scania R NextGen. Process is the same for all other trucks that require advanced skinning methods.

Click on the images to open them full-size in a new tab!

For the purpose of this tutorial, I have made a couple of simple edits to the template images, so it should be obvious what I'm doing. Here's the files that I'll be using for the three cabin variants (Normal, Highline and Heavy):

Here are the images that I will be using for sideskirts (4x, 6x, 6x long and 8x):

Please note, that there is plenty of other accessories that can be skinned. See the template and MS2 accessory lists for more info.

Once you have all your skin images ready, start MS2 UI and follow the next steps:

  1. Start a new ETS2 Mod Project (File > New Project > ETS2 Mod Project)
  2. Edit your Mod manifest data (Project items list, left hand side)
  3. Add Advanced Truck Skin mod template (Main toolbar > Add Template)
  4. Select what truck the skin is for: Scania R NextGen (Truck tab)
  5. Enter basic skin data (Basic tab)
  6. Select an workshop icon (Icon tab)
  7. Add cabin skins (Skins tab)

Add all of your cabin skin images here. Select for what cabin variant the image fits in the Suitable cabins list.
  8. Now add all your accessories images and select the appropriate options in the For accessories list. (Accessories tab)

  9. Export your skin and you're done! (File > Export Mod > Export)

Here's the results in game:
